About me
With more than a decade of experience supporting the City of Edmonton’s most senior administrators — including eight years as Chief of Staff to Mayor Don Iveson — in my consulting practice today I offer a wealth of knowledge and insight in navigating complex federal, provincial and municipal intergovernmental systems and policies.
Through my experience, I’ve developed a multifaceted comprehension of how to advance a municipality’s vision for a long and sustainable future. I led negotiations on behalf of the City of Edmonton to establish a new fiscal framework (city charter) worth hundreds of millions of dollars to the City. I brought major future-enabling infrastructure projects to life including large-scale expansions to Edmonton’s LRT network, and revitalizing Yellowhead Trail. And I’ve worked closely with city councils, mayors, elected officials and policy makers at all levels of government to advance numerous municipal priorities.
While I am deeply interested in making organizational visions and revolutionary projects come to life, what brings me the most joy is building and nurturing the teams who are critical to that success. Since I started Julianna Charchun Consulting Inc. in 2022, I’ve been honoured to lean into my leadership and psychology background to guide teams to improve how they function, and focus on achieving their missions.
Anyone who knows me knows how much I love to get my hands dirty and turn complex problems into strategic opportunities. While I have deep and specific experience in government relations, public policy and infrastructure projects, I apply this experience and knowledge to a wide range of client needs and am always looking for new and interesting projects and challenges.
My work takes me across Canada, but I am proud to call Edmonton home where I live with my partner Harold, six-year old son Arrow, our yellow lab, Chili, and many, many plants.
